Dear SUOAF Members,
On Tuesday February 21, 2017, Connecticut General Assembly Committees will be holding several hearings on proposed bills that could alter or remove many of your SUOAF and SEBAC benefits, such as the ability to negotiate pension and health, tuition waivers, etc.
Ways you can help protect your benefits:
1- Invest some Personal or Vacation hours to rally with your fellow state workers on Tuesday February 21st at the LOB in Hartford. I can’t stress enough, how important it is to put effort forward now, to protect these benefits, instead of putting effort forward after they are gone, trying to get them back. Even if you can’t leave work early, please consider coming after work. Public comments will not start until 5PM and will run until late in the evening. Even if you stop by for an hour, you will be helping us protect your benefits.
2- Call or Email your local Legislator – Click on the link ( https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/cgafindleg.asp ), enter your home address to identify your local State Legislators. Then click the name and it will direct you to their website where you can find contact information. If calling, please use your personal cell or home phone. If emailing, please use your personal email address.
Our big concern is House Bill 5552: https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillstatus/cgabssimilar.asp?bill_num=hb05552
On that page with House Bill 5552, you can click the “Other Bills with Similar Topics” section and browse the “State Employee Collective Bargaining Agreements” section.
